Float Level Switches
Semrad Pty Ltd manufactures a range of industrial and environmental sensing and communication products. Its range of industrial level switches include the Nivofloat, Nivocont K, Nivoman, Nivopoint, Nivocont R and the Nivoswitch.
The NivoFloat is used is level switching applications from drinking water to sewerage, including pump protection in small pipes, fail-safe indication and pump control. The NL-100 model has a hermetically moulded double chamber with a final remoulding finish. The switch differential is set with the help of a counterweight that can be adjusted alongside the cable of the switch. It can be used in drinking water applications because it is made from non-toxic materials and the microswitch is mercury-free. It can operate at temperatures between -20° and 80° C, a maximum load of 15 A at 250 V AC, and the contact life is 10 million switches.
Conductive Level Switches
The NivoCONT K series is a contact style level switch for liquids, and can be used in applications where the liquid has a higher conductivity than 2 x 10-5 S/cm. Probes with length corresponding to the required switching levels are immersed in the liquid, which changes the conductivity between the probes and the tank wall. Or if there are multiple probe models, between the probes and a reference probe. This change in conductivity is sensed and converted into an output signal by the electronics. Up to four probes plus a reference probe can be used depending on the model.
This conductive level switch features high or low fail-safe mode, stainless steel parts, separate probe and relay unit, and limit switch or differential switch versions. It can operate in temperatures between -20° and 200° C, has a maximum pressure of 16 bar, and is housed in cast aluminium. Applications for the switch include fail-safe indication, pump control, and chemical and water industries.
Water Level Measurement Products
Semrad Pty Ltd is the sole Australian distributor of WaterLOG® environmental products. The range of products is cost effective and technically advanced, designed for the measurement and control of liquid levels. It includes water sensors, data collection platforms, gas bubbler systems, rain gauges, SDI-12 interfaces, precision inclinometers, communication products and data loggers.
With a wide range of sensing technologies, logging solutions, data collection and transmission, the equipment provides complete application coverage. Their water level measurement solutions range from small farm devices (farm tanks and irrigation systems) to large government installations such as dam floodgates and outflow.
Sensors
The WaterLOG® H-331 is a dual interface digital shaft encoder that measures water level by monitoring the position of a float and pullet. It has a built-in LCD display with a ‘Push to Read’ button and high-speed encoder circuitry that prevents missing counts due to rapid movement from wave action or sudden movement in freeze/thaw conditions. It is battery powered with low current operation (less than 800 microamps on typical standby), has zero backlash and a sealed enclosure to protect the electronics. It can operate in a temperature range of -40 to +60° C and its dual bearing design comes with special low temperature lubricant. It has 200 counts per revolution for the DSI-12 output, multiple sensors on a three-wire cable and a threaded shaft compatible with mechanical shaft encoder wheels.
The WaterLOG® H-340 is a precision tipping bucket rain gauge, housed in durable extruded aluminium with a one-piece cast base. A magnetic reed bucket tip sensor provides standard switch closure output. It has precision bucket bearings, a removable stainless steel funnel screen, and side windows to allow inspection of the mechanism without removing the cover. It can be used to accurately measure rainfall, monitor storm water run off and in other meterological applications.
